Ariel is a Junior Artist at Primal Instinct Tattoo, Licensed since March 2020. Ariel is one of a handful of Alaska Native tattooers in the state. She is Indigenous but also 1st Generation. Her mother is Yup’ik from Tuluksak, Alaska and her father immigrated to Alaska from Jacobstad, Finland. She is the A’la (eldest sister) of 4 children born and raised in Anchorage.
She first started working the counter at Primal Instinct Tattoo in 2016. She started her tattoo apprenticeship in 2019 and became licensed in 2020. She looks forward to continue learning and growing through this practice and has a deep reverence for its significance rooted in cultures across the world. She looks forward to helping shift the industry to become more diverse and consider all-inclusive perspectives throughout the industry’s structure.
She practices in this industry with the goal to make it more safe, warm, inviting & accessible to women, BIPOC & LGBTQ2S+. As an Indigenous and Queer lady tattooer, she is community-minded; creating with benevolent intent. She loves collaborating with clients from all walks of life to bring beautiful, long-lasting art for all bodies.
