Donalen Rojas Bowers (she/her, they/them)
Donalen is a Filipina-American multimedia artist apprenticing under Carlos Figueroa. Most of her past exhibited works are watercolor paintings/illustrations. She is currently finishing her senior year at the University of Alaska Anchorage, set to graduate in May of 2022 with a Bachelor’s of the Arts in Art, with an emphasis on watercolor.
In addition to watercolor, Donalen works in many mediums, including: graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, ink, embroidery, needle felting, and digital illustration. Her digital work includes drawings and cover designs for The Weirdness of Willow Street, an ongoing children’s book series in a cartoon style, and a video produced and illustrated for the Teen Climate Action Anchorage Museum project for their website. Her physical work has been in multiple exhibits, at various places both in person and online.
She hopes to utilize her love for watercolor to create illustrative tattoo works, but would love to explore multiple genres of tattoos. A goal she wishes to work towards as a tattoo artist is to bring more attention to the medium as a whole as a fine art. The body is the most beautiful canvas an artist could ask for.
